oh mother dear not coming home no need to cry I'm not alone clouds build up on the horizon as the radio spills its information mother tries to gather children but the youngest isn't found I was out in the woods talking to the tree I said I'm bound to the ground he said he'd set me free so I climbed up to the highest branch and I laughed down at the dirt my momma never let me climb she said I might get hurt and a spear of fear shot through my heart in my home up in the leaves and I knew the storm was about to start as fields picked up the breeze its not safe anymore my heart is racing all I'm doing now is storm chasing I'll never forget the day this was done as it rose above the setting sun I had nowhere else to run so I finally took the air it seemed to come so naturally as I broke free from gravity and I knew that it was meant to be and this is how I'd live for years I ran where the storms run just a taste of freedom but as soon as it all came undone I knew I'd been a fool oh mother dear come save me now I'm too afraid you're not around
